The Technical University of Ostrava (VSB) in the Czech Republic is making strides to position itself as a centre of excellence in geothermal energy storage in the country. EU funding of the GeoUS project will enable the university to enhance the scientific excellence of its personnel and collaborate with leading international research institutions in the field. Young researchers will have the chance to study fundamental and practical aspects of developing geothermal energy sustainably. Research results will be shared with the City Authority of Ostrava, the Moravian-Silesia Regional Authority and other national authorities. The project will raise the standard of geothermal energy research in the Czech Republic and ensure VSB becomes the country's foremost institute in the field.
